Your Next Power Move

By Victoria McGuire

“The greatest leaders? They’re the ones whose influence outlives them.”

Let’s get real. What happens when you are the one others rely on… and suddenly, they don’t anymore?

I’m not just talking about relationships. I mean as a leader, a mentor, a parent, a teacher.

  • When your kid stops asking for advice.

  • When your team moves forward without checking in.

  • When the people who once depended on you… find their way.

And suddenly—you’re not the center anymore.

That moment?

It’s unsettling.

Because it’s not just about influence—it’s about identity.

If you are thinking:

—> What’s my role now?

—> Do I still matter?

—> If I’m not shaping their path, then what’s my purpose?

It’s not a loss…

It’s the next level.

Legacy vs. Control

Leadership isn’t just about strategy: it’s about the impact you leave on people. I remember a company boating trip where I was completely out of my element. I sprained my toe, felt painfully out of place as the only woman there, and was battling my insecurities. As we parted ways, I offhandedly made a self-deprecating comment about my car to the group I was carpooling to the office, something I did often back then, caught in the habit of downplaying my worth.

I had a moment where, my CEO at the time, Eric Breon, stopped me. Instead of brushing past the moment, he pointed out something simple but powerful: I should be grateful for my car. It was reliable. It got me where I needed to go. And that was what mattered.

He wasn’t wrong and his words still resonate with me today. I need to be grateful for what I have and use it to get the job done. That mindset has shaped my approach to business and problem-solving. It’s not about having total control; it’s about using what’s available, adapting, and making an impact with what’s in front of you. That’s why I’m here, building this.

The best leaders don’t just control the present: they design the future.

Influence is fleeting. Legacy is permanent.

A leader who clings to influence? They stay small. A leader who builds something bigger than themselves? They become untouchable.

Because leadership isn’t about staying in the center.

It’s about verifying things still stand: even when you step back.

The most respected people aren’t needed: they’re followed voluntarily.

That’s the difference between influence and true power.

Just like Microsoft’s leadership shift under Satya Nadella. By decentralizing decision-making, product teams were able to drive innovation independently. Microsoft’s market cap grew from $300B to over $2.5T under this model.

Legacy-building leaders design systems that function without them.

Designing Influence That Lasts

So here’s the shift that changes everything:

—> Instead of asking, “How do I stay relevant?”

Reframe it: “How do I make my influence untouchable?”

—> Instead of thinking, “They don’t need me anymore,”

Reframe it: “I built something so strong, it doesn’t collapse without me.”

—> Instead of fearing change, own it and reframe it:

“I’m not losing control. I’m upgrading how I shape the game.”

Because the truth is?

When your influence becomes invisible but undeniable: that’s when you’ve mastered leadership.

So how do you shift from influence to unbreakable leadership? That’s exactly what the Moral Catalyst Framework (MCF) was built to answer.

The Moral Catalyst Framework (MCF): A Playbook for Unbreakable Influence

The Moral Catalyst Framework (MCF) helps you answer:

  1. How do I build lasting influence beyond my position?

  2. How do I scale ethically without creating dependency?

  3. How do I leverage AI and workforce structures for sustainable, long-term growth?

I’ve laid out the philosophy and pushed you to act. Now you’re probably asking: Where’s the credibility? If you haven’t engaged with the framework yet, that’s your first step. If the work itself doesn’t convince you, look at my LinkedIn, which is more or less a resume. It’s not a space for family and friends: it’s a network of professionals I’ve worked alongside, supported, and pushed boundaries with that remember me years after leaving the company. Look at what it took to be here. I’ve only been public with this since mid-February 2025, and back on LinkedIn since Nov. 2024. If I can compile this in under 4 months by myself, what could I do with a few weeks and a team?

I have years of experience immersed in high-growth environments, contributing to teams that navigated rapid expansion and operational shifts. I have clinical knowledge, professionalism, and ethics from my time as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where I learned compassion and hands-on care. That was only put on hold for my tenure at the central hub for Vacasa Vacation Rentals which gave me firsthand experience in scaling processes, optimizing workforce structures, and adapting to industry-wide disruptions. It was an education in real-time problem-solving, not just theory. If I hadn’t been good at it, I wouldn’t have thrived the way I did. I left to pursue further learning, but that experience had a role in teaching me what I love to do: problem-solve and strategize.

Due to today’s economic landscape, I’m leveraging my expertise to identify solutions, build sustainable strategies, and teach others to do the same. By sharing my knowledge, I aim to secure the support needed to complete my education in Information Technology and drive meaningful improvements in Home Healthcare communication workflows: optimizing efficiency where it’s needed most.

Consider the possibilities

AI-Driven Decision Support: Avoid bottlenecks by leveraging AI for predictive decision-making, accurate and efficient resource mapping for projects, and strategic team profile constructions based on real people, for real people that’ll naturally improve both the quality of life and efficiency of your workforce. A lot of these things are already happening right now, are you leveraging it properly?
Succession-Proof Leadership: Build systems that sustain growth even in leadership transitions and industry shifts.
Scalable Influence: Create structures that operate without constant oversight, that you trust because you put the work in.

Data Speaks: McKinsey research shows companies with strong leadership succession planning outperform the S&P 500 by 20% over time.

The leaders who future-proof their influence aren’t the ones who control outcomes: they’re the ones who design sustainable ecosystems where success continues without them.
